Publ.: Element Books
Year and place: 1982 Tisbury, Wiltshire
ISBN: 0-906-540-26-7
**** Hard cover. 185 pp. 26 b/w photographs.
The lifestory of one of the greatest falconers of our time. I find it is a drawback that the book is not written in chronological order. The chapter devoted to Jack Mavrogordato's falconry-carreer is the last in the book, and the rest of the chapters are devoted to his other doings: his childhood as son of a rich greek businessman, neighbour to or aqcuainted with Churchill and other notabilities in the UK, life in London during WW II, life as solicitor, and his part in Sudanese independence, etc. Worth a read. Jack Mavrogordato appears to have been a very pleasant and modest man with a strong sense of justice. Jakob E. Borch
