SCALE MODEL-BOATS

I like the model boat kit from the Danish company's Billing Boats and from the now closed DMI (Dansk Modelflyve Industri).Billing Boats bought the modelboat part of the DMI Company, when that company was closed down.
I only build the motorboats that can be used for sailing with motor and radio control.

I like the Billing Boats and DMI kit because these kit are made from good quality wood and because the drawing/instruction leave a lot of work to the builders brain - some other kit are made like a LEGO kit for small children, with everything described in every little detail, these kit are not fun at all to build.

A kit from DMI or Billing Boats that's fun

ZWARTE ZEE

Zwarte Zee is build from a old Billing Boat kit (a kit complete in wood, that are disconnected for many years ago - the kit you can buy today in made in a bigger scale and with a ABS hull)

My Zwarte Zee is powered by a 12 V Bühler motor, two pcs. 1,2 Ah lead acid battery's make the low drain motor run for a very long time. The prop is a 4 blade brass prop from Prop Shop (size 1719).
In addition to the main motor have I mounted a Graupner bow truster.

For more scale information about Zwarte Zee, look here: Scale info. and here: Scale info2.

TRAWLER

A kit form DMI, the model was built by my father, for more than 40 yeas ago. The boat is build complete in wood.

I have for some years ago renovated the boat, installed RC, painted her with original "ship paint" from a wood-shipyard, that build the "old" trawlers in real size.

The boat has working radar, running cooling water and motor sound.
Motor is a Bühler, the prop is a 3 blade Prop Shop, scale prop size 1415 and a 3Ah 12 V battery make her sail more than 3 hours.

I will continue to add details to this model.

..this boat give me a lot of memories from my childhood.

The last picture is from a Norwegian mountaing lake. The water is very deep and clear as gin! On the picture you can see the bottom even though that the dept are more than 10 meters !!!!!

The lake are located together with 3 other lakes, a very big one, a low water one, and this very deep one, with the clear water.

A fantastic place.

SMIT ROTTERDAM

Smit Rotterdam is also one of the super wood kit from Billing Boats, yes a good kit, complete in wood !. .I will write it many times... I don't like the popular ABS/GRP (plastic!) hulls - that's too simple, something for small kits!

Smit Rotterdam was built in 1975 for Smit International BV in Holland, and was at the time of its completion the largest and most powerful tugboat in the world - with a tonnage of 2,273 tons, a length of 75 m, a 22,000 HP engine and a top speed of 16.5 knots.
The ship do have a bulb stern and stern nozzle; inboard equipment included the most modern gear for navigation, steering and radio communication.
For more scale information about Smit Rotterdam, look here: Scale info. and here: Scale info2.

My model is powered by 2 pcs. GEFAG M36x20 motors with individual speed controllers (the new homemade 1Khz controller), look here: Electronic page. and Prop Shop, Kort Nozzle props size K2425/4, that Prop Shop had skimmed down especially for me, to fit the Billing Boat kort Nozzles

The main battery are a 12 V, 12 Ah lead acid battery - in addition do the model have a 12 V 1,2 Ah battery for the sound unit and for the BEC that supply the RX. The boat has an on board charging system for both battery's, look here: Electronic page.

The boat does also have a Graupner bow truster, working fire monitor, motor sound and running (working) cooling water.

The first trip
Smit Rotterdam was tested in the local river. She was perfect in the water. Everything worked fully as planned. A super boat.
The other ship on the picture is the Mercantic - see below.

The fire monitors is driven by a sprinkler pump from a car. The monitors are very powerful.
The process continue ...The building never stop.

I have made a small winch for the main towing line, there is more than 2 meter on the winch - This one will be installed in Smith Rotterdam. I will have to make some electronic that will stop the winch when the line is fully coiled up.

SAMSON

Samson was a kit from DMI, discontinued for more than 30 years ago, when the DMI company was closed down. When I was a young boy the Samson kit was one of the kit's that I had to get, but never got.

I have been looking for the kit or the drawing for Samson for some time....and a day I found the drawing and the drawing for the ribs. I was then able to build the boat from scratch.

My Samson is powered by a GEFAG M28x20 motor, a propshop 5 blade scale prop size 1415 and 12 pcs. GP3300 cells.

I have mounted additional details, eg. a working radar.

The sailing boats on the pictures below do not all have all the details mounted. Only the boat on the last prcture are fully completed.

Samson has a Digital Steba sound module installed; this module has all the sound that's needed to make the tug sounding realistic, motor start up, motor speed, two fog horn and winch sound.
I have installed a quite big loudspeaker, witch is very important for making the right sound.

Are you interested in buying a Samson kit ? Send me a E-mail

MERCANTIC

The Mercantic kit was made by Billing Boats, discontinued for a long, long time ago. Also this kit was one of the kit that I, when I was a child, had to build, but I was to slow - the kit was gone a long time before I was ready to buy it......

A friend had the original drawing and the drawing for the ribs, therefore I have been able to build the boat from scratch.

The Mercantic is powered by a GEFAG M36x20 12V motor a Propshop 3 blade scale prop size 1517 and 6 pcs. 12 V lead acid battery's with a total of more than 7,2 Ah, that make her sail a hole day without charging. (Power consumption is 0,75 A at full speed). The boat has an on board charging system for all 6 battery's, look here: Electronic page.

Scale formation: A video from the city where Mercantic was build, showing several "autofaerge" and before the film stop, the "Mercantic" in the building process. Look here: Video.

ADMIRAL

The Admiral is a very old discontinued kit form the DMI Company, my kit are more than 40 years old!

The wood in the kit from these days are much better that the wood in the modern kit - the pine strips do all have parallel grains, therefore they are still complete straight after all the years - that's a delight to work with!
In the old days there was time and knowledge to select the right wood before cutting into strips....Today there are not enough time for that..

The Admiral are a big model: 1 meter long, My boat is powered by 2 Bühler motors, with individual speed controllers, 3 blade Prop Shop Scale prop size 1517 and 2 packs of 10 x GP3300, each for the two motrors. (the boat was originally planned for one motor)

In my childhood Trawler, Samson, Mercantic, Admiral, MT-17 and Autofaerge were the boat kit all boys was dreaming about. I am therefore glad that I (finally) today are able to build these boats.

The front deck covered with wood strips.

The cabin partly build.

The red part of the hull is ready.

Both front and quarterdeck covered with wood strips. The boat is painted inside with epoxy (I do that with all my wood boats, that protect the wood from the water). Now the boat is ready for outside covering with thin glassfibre and epoxy

The white part ready after painting two times....even after the third layer was it not perfect. I had to wet sand all the paint and start all over again.

First sailing trip !

The Admiral has been sailing.
The big boat sit perfect on the water. The two motors has sufficient power to give the boat a good speed, just before it plane - PERFECT ! What not was perfect was my camera - all the pictures was over exposed - of cause a wrong adjustment.. Pictures will come next time!

Second time, the pictures was OK:

MT-17

MT-17 is a fantastic good looking model. The kit was made by the DMI company.
MT-17 - it's a quite simple kit, but still a very important model for me to build, after building one I only miss to build one of the model boats that I was dreaming about in my childhood (the last one: Autofaerge, se below)

The model is poowered by two Monoperm super special motors (old ones - from the same time period as the kit!), individual speed controllers for each motor, 3 blade Prop Shop Scale props size 1011. (the kit is only planned for one motor).
I use LIPO cells as power supply.

The MT-17 is painted in the Danish grey colour - even though the MT-17 never had been a real boat in the Danish marine. I think that the kit original was made with the famous PT-109 in mind, and when the kit was made here in Denmark, the kit got a Danish flag. I have found the Billing Boat P-87 the sister ship to the DMI's MT-17 kit (see the picture of that kit below). This boat is also a PT-109 inspired kit. I will paint that boat in the PT-109 colours.

The painting process, that's where things always go wrong for me, this time the grey colour was to dark, checking that I also realized that the waterline was wrong: I had to watersand everything and start all over again I hate the painting, maybe that's the reason..?

The special PT-boat rudder, made from a drawing found on the internet, my MT-17 have 2 of these.

Second time the painting went right - now the boat is ready for mounting of all the details, motor and RC

MT-17 is now ready for the first trip on the water.

The two Monoperm Super Special motors with individuel speed controllers. Battery is 2 pcs LIPO 2S2P, with total 4400 mA.

MT-17 has been sailing !

What I expected to be good was fantastic ! MT-17 was sailing like a dream.
The two Monoperm Super Special was powered from the two LIPO 2S2P packs perfect, with that much power that was needed to make the boat sail fast, just below the plane speed - a perfect speed for this model.
The real PT-boats was not planning, they were at full speed still sailing with the hull in the water. For a model the problem is that the water still is "full size" making the water to "stiff" for the model, therefore the model much easier to get the hull out of the water.
This was perfect!

Fantastic !!

TRAWLER, SAMSON, MERCANTIC, and MT17

The pictures are from a old DMI/Billing Boats catalogue. (app. 1973) These boats were the boat I was dreaming about in me childhood.

QUICK

Quick is the smallest boat that was made by the DMI Company.
I don't had the kit, only a copy of the drawing; therefore I have build the little boat from scratch. The hull is covered with 0.8 mm plywood, the deck covered with wood strips, and the cabin is build in Mahoney. The roof on the cabin will be painted light gray.

The boat is only 33 cm long, but there is still plenty of room for the motor, RC and battery - the modern LIPO cells make it possible to keep the weight down and still get a quite big battery, I expect min. 2,5 Ah.

The boat is powered by a Monoperm, a Prop Shop Scale prop size 871, and a 1200 mA light weight LIPO battery (2S2P 600 mA mobilephone battery).

Ready from the painting process, mounting of fittings started.

People mounted.

First sailing trip !

The Quick is a small boat, but still OK on the water. I know that the boat was a little bit too heavy in the front, bacause of the brass windows frames, and the motor that, is located in the very front part of the boat. I had hoped that the model was able to raise the front from the water at speed, but that was not perfect.

The motor, prop and battery is perfect, the speed OK. I will have to do something with the weight, maybe a lighter motor - a little Bühler ?
The motor is changed to a small Bühler, found at Intermodell Bau. This changed the boat complete. The Bühler motor is 20 g lighter that the Monoperm, and more powerful. The less weight made the little boat much better on the water and the more power make the boat sail fantastic.

AUTOFAERGE

A old, discontinued kit from DMI.

I was looking for this kit for a long time, the kit was listed as missing on this page. A day an Email arrived, a very nice person form Alaska had 2 Autofaerge kits' - I bought the two kits' and are therefore able to build the model from the original kit - thanks a lot for your help !

This kit is a model of the small ferries that were sailing the short distance to the islands here in Denmark. Today there are bridges to a lot of these islands and most of the ferries are therefore now scrapped.
These ferries had a two propeller set up, they could sail in both direction, with a prop in each end. But the kit is only made for a one motor/prop solution.
I will of cause build the model with a two motor/prop setup, and had made a special speed controller that can handle the two motors. I will also make a special servo controller that change the steering between the two rudders depending on witch motor there is running.

I like this kit very much, as you properly have read above was the Autofaerge also one of the "must build" kit from my childhood.

Scale formation: A video, showing several "autofaerge" and before the film stop, even the "Mercantic" in the building process. Look here: Video.

This strips for the car deck. I make the deck in Obechi strips with 0,5 mm Mahogany strips in-between.
When the deck is ready it will be sanded, and painted with matt varnish

The two Monoperm motors pre installed in the hull.

The painting proces

Finalized, ready for departure. I must find some cars and people to install on the model.

First sailing trip

The first sailing trip was on the local river. The Autofaerge was perfect on the water, the 2 prop setup make her sail perfect.

KONGESKIBET - "Dannebrog"

A very, very old, discontinued kit from Billing Boats.

"Dannebrog" is the Danish Queens' ship. The ship was build in 1932, and since then had the former two Kings' and now the Queen used the ship for visit here in Denmark and to a lot of countries around the globe.
You can find scale information about Dannebrog here: Dannebrog.
And some pictures here: Dannebrog pictures.

The Billing Boat model of "Dannebrog" is in scale 100:1 and therefore are all details quite small. I hope that I can find space for the two motors, and the two speed controllers - to make the two motors run on a single controller will be a disaster the two motors in the setup must be able to work individually.

The prop's will be PropShop Scale props' size 851 with 4 blades.
The motors will be two small Bühler, that are that small that they can be connected direct to the prop shaft, power consumption will be below 0,5A for each motor.
The two motors will get their power from a 6V Lead acid battery.

........more information will come....

The bow truster are mounted, and primer painting started - this is after 7 times, close to: Ready for real painting.

The work with the wood strips for making the hull is the best work on a model.
I love to make these models' where the hull is made from the beginning.

The model ready for same part of the painting, the second deck is therefore not finally assembled.
The deck is made of teak, close to 500 small strips was used.

The red paint after first time....
...yes, Dannebrog is painted red below the waterline - the boat has a green line in the waterline. The green line will be painted on my model after finishing the red part
I do always start from the bottom, and paint upwards

HOGA - Pearl Harbor Tug

The Hoga kit is a quite new, but even then disconnected kit form Billing Boats (disconnected on the 2007 - homepage)
The Pearl Harbor Tug, Hoga was entered into service in Pearl Harbor a very few days before the Japanese attach on the harbor. Hoga was taking part in the fire fighting and rescuing. Today Hoga is the only still sailing boats from the attach.

You can find scale information about Hoga here: Hoga. and here: Hoga2.

I have decided to start the building of the Hoga, because it's one of Billing Boats new laser cut kit. I have never built a laser cut boat before (I have build several aircraft) like the planes is the laser cut boat kit very easy to assemble, It's like a LEGO kit - where things just have to be put together then it stay that way, glue is nearly not needed!

The best thing, with the laser cutting is the windows; they are perfect from the beginning! But I must admit that I miss some of the challenge that the windows cutting normally give and the challenge that the experimental for finding the best ideas for a solutions that normally is a part of the building process when building non laser cut kit and scratch building. But it's fun anyhow!

The Hoga is from Billing Boats not planned for sailing. Mine will of cause be made for that. She will be powered by a Bühler motor, a PropShop scale prop 4 blade size 2022. I expect that the boat can handle a 4 - 6 Ah lead acid battery.

The work with the wood strips ... I like it.
The mounting of fittings started.

The Bühler motor and a PropShop 1719 prop - that was my first choice for the Hoga, but that prop was too small, I have therefore changed to the 2022 size.

The motor are mounted in rubber damping, even though that the Bühler motor is very quite, this setup secure that there do not come any noise at all from the motor. (one rubber damper is missing)
I mount the motor like this in all my scale boats.

Red part of hull ready.

Ready for sailing.

First sailing trip
The first sailing trip was on the local river. The Hoga was sitting perfect on the water, the big prop make her sail perfect.

CADET and CLAUDIA

Two kit from DMI, Claudia and Cadet are both from my childhood, build when I was 10 - 15 years old. Now rebuild and named after my two daughters.

The Cadet (The boat named Mette) have a special story:
My friend of mine had a Cadet, we had build the boat together. One day I borrowed the boat - without asking my friend!
On the sailing trip was I unlucky, and spoiled the cabin. I had to buy a new kit, from that I build a new cabin for my friend! The hull, from this new kit was build and used for a lot of things - eg. sailing with a small IC-diesel engine, it was painted in a lot of terribly bad colours ...when I for a few years ago found the boat again, I had rebuild the hole boat (This tine I had build a new cabin from scratch), installed motor and RC .

The Cadet is powered by a Monoperm super 6 V running on a LIPO battery 2S with 2400 maH

The Claudia (The boat named Marianne) is more powerful, it has a S400 motor as power, the model one is running on a 3S LIPO battery - the Claudia is then able to plane. The Claudia is a real speed boat.
I have regrettably recognised that my Claudia is wrong build; the original kit had a 2 seat cabin. I have built the boat with only one cabin.
These old kit has to be done the right way - I have therfore found an unbuilt Claudia at E-bay (look below).
I am now able to build a new correct Claudia!

High Speed CLAUDIA

This boat is build from the original Claudia drawings (se above).

I have changed a few things for better speed. (front and spray rails) The boat is powered by 2 pcs S400 7,2v and contrary rotating Propshop props. I have tested the boat with 6 to 9 cells (RC2000).
With 9 cells is the speed to high, making the boat very unstable. With 6 cells it has a scale like speed, and a long sailing time, but still a little unstable in the turns.

HMS RENOWN

This is one of the smallest all wood boat from Billing Boats.
The kit are not made for sailing, but I have of cause build it for RC.

The motor is a Monoperm, 2S2P LIPO cells (2200 mA) and the smallest Prop Shop prop that I have used a 3 blade size 751.

The boat was tested in the local river, the motor - prop - battery combination is perfect for the boat.

I must find a smoke generator and a steam sound generator that can fit the boat, that will make the little boat perfrct.

Coast Guard - the famous US lifeboat

This kit is a very old kit, which already are build by a friend of mine. The model has had some rough years and was looking badly.
The hull on this model is a plastic hull - I have to get used to is, but I still feel like a small boy playing with Lego, its too simple to make a model boat this way....Why do the model companies make a fine model like this, using the "plastic bowl technique" when the boat easily could be made using the real building technique: Plank on frames ?

I has removed all fittings and paint from the old model and then started the rebuilding.

The prop shaft is installed and the two Bühler motors have been pre installed. The model is now ready for painting with primer.

Scale information, look here, a fantastic page with a lot of information about the US-lifeboats: Coast Guard

Andrea Gail

The Andrea Gail, an un-inspected commercial fishing vessel departed Gloucester Harbour, Massachusetts, September 20, 1991 with six crewmembers on board. The crew intended to make a fishing trip for swordfish in the area of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, Canada. The vessel began its return voyage to Gloucester, MA. on October 26-27, 1991. On October 30, 1991, the vessel was reported overdue by the owner, Mr. Robert Brown. An extensive air and sea search was conducted utilizing U.S. and Canadian Cape Cod MA. However, the search did not locate the vessel or any of the crewmembers. The vessel and six crewmembers remain missing and are presumed lost at sea in a major storm, referred to as the “Perfect Storm” by a meteorologist and made famous by Sebastian Junger’s book (the book was later turned into a Hollywood movie). The sword fishermen were Captain William “Billy” Tyne, Robert “Bobby” Shatford of Gloucester, Dale Murphy and Michael “Bugsy” Moran of Bradenton Beach FL., David “Sully” Sullivan and Alfred Pierre of New York City

This kit is a new laser cut kit form Billing Boats.
The model is quite small only 35 cm long, the kit is not made for sailing, witch my model of cause will be.

The kit is from the Billing Boats 600-series, where the hull is planked in two separate halves - that make the planking process very easy.
More to come...

This picture show the keel and frames precut for the later removing og the center part. This will be done after planking and assembling of the two hull parts.

The hull is nearly ready.

The mid part of the frames is removed and the motor mount is installed. The motor had to be placed close to the front - only then was it possible to get the right angle on the propshaft.

The motor will be a small Bühler - the same motor used in Quick and Dannebrog.

The hull have sufficient space for RX, servo, speedcontroller, and a 2 cells LIPO battery. The LIPO battery will actually make this small model sail in more hours then the Smit Rotterdam witch have a 12Ah battery.

POLLUX

Pollux is a simple plastic kit from Graupner. The boat is powered by a S400 from a Hairdryer and 7 pcs. RC1700.

A day I will have to rebuild the Pollux, build a wood cabin and add more details, today its all plastic - a real toy for the kits....

SCALE BOAT MOTORS

For my bigger scale boats I use either a Bühler or a GEFAG motor. These motors are made in a lot of different versions, I normally use a 12 V motor that use 0,7 - 1,2 A at full speed with the prop that I want to use. In a tug I sometimes use a stronger motor, up to 2 - 2,5A for more tractive power.

In my smaller scale boats I prefer to use motors from the Monoperm series, I use both the 6 V and the 12 V versions (the 12 V versions was not produced in the same big numbers, as the 6 V version and are therefore today quite difficult to find).
I prefer to use the old 3 pole Monoperm.
I don't like to use the Monoperm motors at more that 1A. The Monoperm motor is a stable motor, but it is very sensitive for overload.

The Monoperm motors have one disadvantage; they do often make a lot of electric noise that goes into the receiver. Normally this can be solved by adding capacitors and damper coil to the motor, but a few of the motors do make that much electric noise that they can't be used for RC.
For more information about the Monoperm motors, look here: Monoperm.

In addition to the Monoperm motors I have used a Maxon motor. This motor are both mechanically and electric noise less.
I am also using the smaller motors from the Bühler range. I have found these motors on E-bay. These small Bühler motors are like the bigger Bühler very good motors, with a lot of poles, made for low rev/min, they are complete sound less.

As you can see, do some of the motors have a number, these numbers is because of my motor test. I test all motors with a wide range of props (all props from the Prop Shop range) the small motors is tested on 6 V (lead acid battery) and 7.7 V (2P LIPO battery), the bigger motors on a 12 V lead acid battery.
The data is used when I select the right motor for a model.

The mounting of motors in a Scale boat

I hate it when the motor make a sound that I can hear. That's why a geared motor never will be used in my scale boats.
For me it is very important to find a motor that can handle the prop needed for the boat in a direct drive.
When I mount the motor I use a lot of time to get a complete straight line from prop shaft to motor.
As a tool for that do I use a tube that's mounted to the motor and prop shaft where the coupling will be mounted later on, then I adjust the motor fixture until the motor slide very easy into the tube, when that's done I mount the coupling and start the motor, if there is any noise I adjust the motor fixture until the sound is gone.

On top of the precise adjustment I always use a rubber damped motor fixture.
For the smaller Monoperm, Milliperm and Microperm motors I use a 2 mm thick neoprene rubber that's glued to the motor fixture with rubber glue and again to the boat with the same glue.
The bigger motors has a fixture that's screwed into the boat, in these fixtures do I make the rubber damper from a rubber cable sealer used in the electronic, I use 4 of these on each motor fixture.

SCALE BOAT PROPS

There is only one scaleboat prop: The prop from the PropShop company - go to Propshop: Propshop

The Propshop prop is a very good loking and a very efficient prop. The Propshop compagny make the props in a lot of different patterns and sizes with 2 - 5 blades. (special prop with even more blades)

Propshop also make props for special purpose - eg. for Kort nozzle, the prop is used in Smit Rotterdam (prop no. 5 from left) or the special 2 blade "fishing boat" prop, that I wanted for some of my next boats (Mary Ann, Krabbekutter and Bent) (look at prop no. 6 from left). - SUPER!

Painting - I hate the painting !

Mercantic, Smit Rotterdam and Samson in the painting proces

Look here for more information about my painting: The tool page.

Small parts ready after painting.

The next boat? One of these DMI and Billing boats kit ?

Nordkap
A new, still available, kit from Billing Boats...maybe..

Samson
A old discontinued kit from DMI. I was looking for the Samson kit for quite long time - that long, that I have abandoned to find a kit, therefore I - as you can see above - had build the model from scratch... Later, I was lucky and have found a kit.
...maybe I will build another Samsom ??

Or maybe sell the kit ??- Are you interested, Send me a E-mail

Trawler
A old discontinued kit from DMI. I have build one of these kit... but have found a new unbuild kit.
...maybe I will build another Trawler ??

Or maybe sell the kit ??- Are you interested, Send me a E-mail.

Autofaerge
A old discontinued kit from DMI. I have build one of these kit. I still have one unbuild kit.
...maybe I will build another Autofaerge ??

Or maybe sell the kit ??- Are you interested, send ne a E-mail.

Mary Ann
A new, still available, kit from Billing Boats...maybe..

Krabbekutter
My kit is a quite old kit. A newer version (laser cut) is still available. The kit is made by Billing Boats...maybe..

Hjejlen

This is a very old, discontinued kit from Billing Boats.....The hull are regrettably to small for a steam engine, power must therfore be a geared electric motor.....maybe..

Hjejlen. Was build in 1861 at the Baumgarten & Burmeister shipyard in Copenhagen (later the Burgmeister & Wain or B&W). Hjejlen is 26.9 m long, the capacity is 175 Pass. Hjejlen is often referred to as the oldest steamboat in the world, this is not quite right, but not wrong too. Indeed, the two steamer "Skibladner" form Norway build Year 1856 and "Tudor Vladimirescu" build in Romania in 1854 are older vessels. While the latter two vessels, have bee changed and rebuilt, do all large part in Hjejlen still be in the original state, on top of that do Hjejlen still has the original steam engine from 1861. Therefore the title "The oldest paddle steam boat with the original steam engine" is more correct.
Hjejlen started the journey for Copenhagen to Silkeborg June 11. 1861. The journey to Silkeborg was an extraordinarily difficult and costly transportation both at land and sea. The steamer was official dedicate June 21. 1861 by the Danish king, at that time, Frederik th. 7. Since then, has the passenger steamer continuously been in operation in the summer period on the Silkeborg-lake.
A few changes had been made on the boat. In 1871 was the high mast on the foredeck changed, because a new bridge was build on the Gudenå-railroad, the passage under the bridge was to low for Hjejlen. With a shorter mast, was the boat able pass under the bridge. Later was some changes made in the steering, and the aft deck was replaced with a tent-iron roof. Otherwise, is the steamer remained virtually unchanged - including the carved golden plover, where the ships name is printed.
Take a look at: Hjejlen..

Neptun
Again a old, discontinued kit from Billing Boats...maybe..

Sprint
A old, discontinued kit from DMI......maybe..

Claudia
An old, discontinued kit from DMI, here in the German version made for the Engel Company.
I have already build one model of the Claudia, (look above). This boat are actuary build wrong with only one cabin, these old kit have to be done the right way. I must therefore build a correct one ......maybe..

Banckert
A old, discontinued kit from Billing Boats (a new version with ABS hull is still available)...maybe

Vedette
A old, discontinued kit from DMI....maybe.

P-87
A very old discontinued Billing Boats kit...This kit is Billing Boats sister ship to DMI's MT-17.
This boat is, as the MT-17, also a PT-109 inspired kit. The P-87 kit have another hull and less details compared to the MT-17.
I will have to add a lot of additional details to this kit to make I like a PT-109. I will of cause paint this boat in the PT-109 colours, mount 3 motors, and..... ...maybe..

Progress
A old, discontinued kit from Billing Boats...maybe..

B-20
A very old, discontinued kit from Billing Boats...maybe..

Tina
A old, not well-known, kit from Billing Boats, discontinued for many years ago.
I don't have the kit. A friend had the drawing, therefore I can build the boat from scratch.

Thanks a lot for your kindness with the drawing. . ...maybe..

Smit Nederland
A new, still available, kit from Billing Boats........but it has a ABS hull !!... .... you know plastic is for kits! not for model builders...

I have the drawing for a Smit Nederland build in complete wood - I have enlarged this drawing to exactly the same size as the Billing Boats kit, maybe I will use this wood hull instead of the ABS-plastic?...next boat...maybe ??

Zeeland
A quite new, but even then discontinued, the kit is made by Billing Boats...unfortunately this kit also have a ABS hull !!...
All kit manufactures are these days introducing their new kit with ABS or GRP hulls - I hate it, but I know that many model builders like the nearly finished hulls. For me it's not model boat building, to start with a "plastic bowl" and then only make the upper part of the boat. I have to make everything from the beginning - in wood !.... model builders are not equal…. next boat... yes, I have decided that I will build the Zeeland when I have finished the 4 boats that I am building today.
I have to get used to building a boat with a plastic hull. I will start with the Zeeland.

Flyvefisken
A old, discontinued kit from Billing Boats........regrettably also with a ABS hull !!
The kit is a model of the famous Danish warship. The original boat was one of the first warships build in composite. The series of boats was build very flexible (therefore the series was called "Standard Flex 300").
The ships could be equipped for a lot of different operations very easy just by changing standard elements.
Flyvefisken, that was the first boat in the series of total 14 boats, are today not active anymore.
Next boat...maybe ??
