TOP 10 GOALIES
By Jason Hedrick, December 20th 2003

All of these are decided by a special formula I have created for each position based on more info than I would care to bore everyone with.  So here it is...

Top 10 Goalies

1.  Sean Burke, NYR           14gp, 11-1-2, 1So, 1.68gaa .927%
When your 6th dman is better than some teams 1st, anything less than perfect would be a let down!

2.  Jose Theodore, STL  15gp, 11-2-0, 1So, 1.88gaa .927%
As said above, all Theodore has to do is lay down in front of the goal and his defense does the rest.

3.  Tommy Salo, CHI           16gp, 7-4-4, 3So, 1.97gaa .927%
Playing with Detroit for his first 12 games helped him out, since leaving his numbers have dropped drastically.  I would look for more of the same from this overachieving team.

4.  Evgeni Nabokov, DET 15gp, 11-2-0, 0So, 2.11gaa .917%
He helped the Hawks jump out to a nice start before being dealt to Detroit.  His numbers, unlike Salo’s, will continue to get better, but for now his performance is not as good as Salo.

      5.  Martin Brodeur, BUF 21gp, 14-5-2, 1So, 2.35gaa .912%
He is up to his usual performance.  Having only been taken out of 2 games in the 21 he has started, he looks to be headed for an 82 game season, again.  His numbers should stay at the same level.

6.  Dwayne Roloson, MTL 17gp. 5-7-4, 4So, 2.04gaa .910%
Not sure what to say about Roloson except, well, the fact that he has 4 shutouts and 5 wins is confusing.  His team is solid, his numbers are better than Brodeur, yet his team cannot win.  Weird.

7.  Patrick Lalime, COL 17gp, 9-4-3, 1So, 2.33gaa .906%
Unlike the other goalies in his same situation, Lalime is deciding to take it easy.  Let his team do the work while he sits around watching goals go in.  He does have the luxury of seeing more go in the other goal than his own, but this is pathetic.

8.  Roberto Luongo, FLA 18gp, 7-6-4, 2So, 2.02gaa .922%
A Roloson impression in progress.  Team is solid yet they are barely above .500.  Luongo’s numbers are better than Roloson, but his team is helping him out more, scoring more goals a game than the Habs.

9.  Roman Cechmanek, DAL      17gp, 9-6-1, 1So, 2.21gaa .915%
Average numbers, but playing for a great team right now.  His numbers should go up a bit and level off.

10.  Marty Turco, WSH         16gp, 8-5-2, 1So, 2,25gaa .906%
His play is about where one would expect from a good goalie on a decent team.
