A little information about the motors from the Monoperm series.
|
The original Monoperm
The Monoperm series of motors was produced by the German company "Marx"
The Marx-company produced a lot of different things from motors to toys.
The motors in the Monoperm-series was produced in different sizes, where Microperm was the smallest and Hectoperm the biggest.
In addition to the Monoperm-series did the Marx-compagny also produce other motor-series, eg. the GT-series (GT-300 and GT-500)
the GT-series was high power motors.
Few of the Marx motors are still produced, look here:
HTP-mot.
The picture show the original Monoperm, from the time period where the plastic part was red.

The size
The Monoperm motors was made for a lot of different purpose, therefore the motor was produced in several different size.
The picture show the different sizes in the original Monoperm series.
Form left to right: Microperm, Milliperm, Indoperm, Monoperm and Monoperm super, motors with a power range from 0,5 to 9 W
(the series also include the Nanoperm, not shown on the picture)
The motors was all made for different voltage, from 2 - 12 volt, the smaller only for in 2 V, 4,5V or 6V versions the bigger in 6V and 12V version.
The most popular version was the 6V - therefore this version is the easiest one to get today

The biggest
The biggest motor made in the original series was the Hectoperm.
The original Hectoperm is a quite big motor with a weight close to 400g.
The picture show the original Hectoperm, that was made the same way as the original Monoperm. The small motor is a Monoperm, just to show the size

The change in time
The 3 pole Monoperm was produced in many years, it was changed under that period, I know 3 different versions:
- The clear plastic/black metal version with ball bearings, this one are the oldest, produced for app. 50 years ago.
- The red plastic/black metal version, also with ball bearings, produced for app. 40 years ago,
- The grey plastic/black metal version, with plain bearings, produced for 20 years ago.
The picture show the 3 generations of the original Monoperm.

The Special series
The special series was original a 5 pole version of the original 3 pole version.
The special series was made in some of the size from the original series. I know the following:
Milliperm Special, Monoperm Special and Monoperm Super Special, the power range was from 0,5 to 10 W.
Also these motors was made for different voltage, 6 or 12V.
The first picture show the original Monoperm, together with the first version of the Monoperm Super Special - this one was black,
later on the motors in the special series was painted grey.
The second picture show a Monoperm Special and a Monoperm Super Special.
When the original Monoperm series went out of production, the names on the motors in the special series changed,
the "special" was left from the name. That's why a Monoperm today is different from the original Monoperm
As you can see, do the motors have a number, these numbers is because of my motor test. I test all motors with a wide range of props
(all props are from the Prop Shop range) the small motors is tested on 6 V (lead acid battery) and 7.7 V (2P LIPO battery),
the bigger motors on a 12 V lead acid battery. I use the data when I select the right motor for a model.

The Decaperm
The Decaperm was one of the high power motors in the range, only Hectoperm was more powerful. Power range for the Decaperm is up to 40W,
Hectoperm up to 50W
The motor has in addition to the output from the motor shaft a gearbox, with 2,75:1 gear ratio,
therefore these motor is famous for running modelboats with big prop.
The picture shows an old (grey) and an newer (black) version of the Decaperm. The Hectoperm, was equal but bigger.
The small motor is a Monoperm, just for size.

The Gear motors
The Gear motors were one of the specialty form the Marx company.
The 6 shift gearbox, called "Ricard" was powered by a Original Monopern or Monoperm Super. This gearbox is fantastic,
the gear shift can be made while the motor is running and the reliability is fantastic.
The 6 gear in the gearbox run from 3:1 to 60:1.
|
|
The other gearbox, called "Pile" was a gearbox where the gear was shifted by changing the actually gear sections in the gearbox.
This gearbox has gears from 3:1 to 360:1.
The motor on this gearbox was original the Monoperm Super Special, the motor on the picture is one of newest generation of this motor.

The outboard motors
The outboard motors from the range was the first model outboards that actually was working.
There were produced severel different versions.
The "Neptun" outboardmotor, this one was the smallest motor that was produced.
|
The "Neptun 100" was the biggest, most powerfull motor - the picture do not show the actually size, this motor is realy big, nearly 20 cm. high.
|
The "Neptun Super", this one was the mid range motor, The motor inside this outboard is a original Monoperm.
The "Neptun Super" had a smaller sister, that was produced for use with the 4,5V battery that was popular in 1960 - 1970, this motor was called "Neptun 4,5V".
