Born in 1926 in Malmö. In 1946 Österlin was one of the founders
of the swedish group Imaginisterna. Through another member, Carl Otto
Hultén, Österlin met Asger Jorn and through Jorn he got in
contact with artists in Cobra, among these Karel Appel, Constant and Corneille.
Österlin exhibited at several Cobra exhibitions and he visited the
collective Cobra house in Rue de Marais. In 1949 a swedish issue of the
magazine Cobra was discussed, but despite hard work from Österlin,
the swedish issue was never printed.
